AnnotationWe present the results of study of magnetocaloric effect in Gd5Ge4 under high hydrostatic pressure up to 9 kbar in magnetic field up to 5 T. The pressure-induced mixed-phase state with gradual dominance of the FM phase leads to a smoothing of a peak shape of the magnetic entropy change and to a pronounced reduction in the |ΔSM|max value at low pressure. Temperature of the maximum of the |ΔSM| increases remarkably with increasing pressure with a slope that corresponds to a pressure-induced increase in the Curie temperature TC(+4.8 K/kbar).
