The study showed that imaginal growth and histolysis of indirect flight muscles in macropterous individuals of P. apterus are largely juvenile hormone-independent processes that are programmed to occur spontaneously, but can be affected by various internal and external factors, such as injury, allatectomy, starvation, photoperiod and hormonal treatments.

Studium prokázalo, že procesy růstu a histolýzy nepřímých létacích svalů u dlouhokřídlých jedinců ploštice ruměnice pospolné mohou probíhat zcela nezávisle na přítomnosti juvenilního hormonu, avšak mohou být ovlivněny různými vnitřními a vnějšími faktory jako např. poraněním, alatektomií, hladověním, fotoperiodou a aplikací hormonů.
