    AnnotationThe text part includes treatment of fossil material, explanation of terms, amended classification and a brief key and descriptions. The description part encompass morphological characters and features of frustules, brief ecology and possibly remarks to particular taxa. 13 taxa of the genus Melosira Agardh, 20 taxa of the genus Aulacoseira Thwaites including descriptions of 3 new species and 4 new combinations, and 1 taxon of the genus Miosira Krammer, Lange-Bertal. & Schiller are presented in this part. In the picture part there are presented 797 figures in 73 tables. The publication serves as an aid in limnological research and ecological monitoring, and as an aid for determination of fossil diatoms in paleogeology.
