    AnnotationUltra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE), which is used as a bearing part of total joint replacements, was irradiated with accelerated electrons (1 MeV in air) using high dose rates (0 - 100kGy, > 25 kGy/min). Structural changes were followed by a number of diffraction, microscopic, spectroscopic and thermal methods.
