Annotation
Main objective of COST 266 Action is to propose and evaluate siutable architectures and identify key photonic components for the infrastructure of next generation photonic networks and work out alternative scenarios for their evolution towards next generation networks. Progress in realizing this objctive is reported in the presentation. Issues such as dynamics of EDFAs, protection/restoration strategies, network reliability, management of photonic networks and optical packet/burst switching are discussed.
