AnnotationWe present an optical sensor based on excitation of surface plasma wave in optical fiber structure consisting of side polished single-mode polarization maintaining optical fiber and a metal overlayer. We demonstrated sensor operation in amplitude and spectral mode for refractometric measurement with high resistance to optical fiber manipulation.
