Description in EnglishIf the photonic bandgap (PBG) structure is to be incorporated into an optical waveguide, the refractive-index inhomogeneity perpendicular to the waveguide plane detrimentally affects the behaviour of the PBG. Such an influence is demonstrated by numerical modelling of a waveguide Bragg grating. A condition for perfect spectral behaviour of a waveguide PBG device is formulated and its validity is verified by numerical calculation.
