The authors are concerned with the problems of spurious signals in direct digital frequency synthesizers (DDS) due to the phase truncation. They investigate the validity and correctness of the generally cited results and give a simple way for finding positions, levels and number of spurious signals generated by truncation the phase information in the DDS accumulator memory (R bits) to W bits.
