    Tourmaline is an ideal monitor of the local B flux in metamorphic systems because it is typically the sole borosilicate mineral found in metamorphic rocks and it can from throughout a metamorphic event. Because tourmaline is generally found as a trace of minor mineral dispersed throughout most metamorphic rocks.
