Práce shrnuje výsledky autorova více než dvacetiletého studia žížal (Lumbricidae) na území našeho státu. Pro každý ze zjištěných druhů a poddruhů je uveden výčet synonym, stručný popis, terra typica, základní ekologická charakteristika, areál rozšíření, zjištěný výskyt v České republice (včetně odkazů na publikované nálezy jiných autorů a síťové mapy) a vyobrazení přední části těla s důležitými determinačními znaky. Kromě toho je v práci zahrnut originální klíč k určování druhů a poddruhů, a kapitoly shrnující historii výzkumu u nás, včetně kompletní bibliografie prací obsahujících faunistická data o žížalách na území ČR, základní informace o morfologii a anatomii, biologii a ekologii žížal, jejich vlivu na půdní prostředí a metodách jejich sběru a konzervace.
Description in English
The paper summarises the results of the author's research on earthworms of the Czech Republic carried out for more than 20 years. The list of synonyms, short description, terra typica, basic ecological characteristics, distribution, records in the Czech Republic (including references to records published by other authors and distribution grip map) and the picture of the anterior part of the body with important identification characters are given for each species and subspecies recorded. Additionally, identification key to adult species, and subspecies, and chapters outlining the history of earthworm research in the Czech Republic, as well as basic data on the morphology, anatomy, biology and ecology of earthworms and their effects on soil, and on the methods of earthworm sampling and conservation are included.
