This contribution is concerned with the construction, basic properties and important relations among hierarchic higher-order finite elements in spaces H1. H(curl) and H(div). while the scalar continuous case has been fully explored, the discretization in the spaces H(curl) and H(div) recently brought up several difficult issues.
