We demonstrate that Mason-Pfizer monkey virus dUTPase, exists as a fusion protein NC-dUTPase both within the virions and infected cells and provides the only form of dUTPase. We show that recombinant beteretroviral NC-dUTPase and dUTPase are both inefficient catalysts compared to all other dUTPases.
