The modes of action of unusual ecdysteroid analogues (dimers, glycosides) and ecdysisinhibiting compounds (spirostane saponins) were investigated, particularly the interaction with the insect ecdysteroid receptor. Possible interference of such compounds with precursors or intermediates in the biosynthesis of ecdysteroids was also investigated.
