This communication deals with the synthesis of new racemic carbocyclic 4'-C-hydroxymethyl analogues of azidodeoxythymidine, deoxythymidine, deoxydidehydrothymidine, and the carba analogue of the anti-HIV compound, thymidine derivative with 3',4'-fused oxetane ring.
