    First structurally characterized discrete metal complex with tetranucleating 7,7,8,8-tetracyano-p-quinodimethane (TCNQ) exhibits an innocent behavior of a typical non-innocent ligand. The coordination of four [Re(CO)3(2,2' bipyridine)]+ units strongly facilites the reduction of TCNQ, by 0.74V.
