Annotation
Administration of one of the acyclic nucleoside phosphonates, HPMPA, to mice infected with Schistosoma mansoni resulted in suppression of total numbers of female and coupled worms, complete disappearance of immature and mature ggs, with 99-100% of the eggs being dead. Greatly reduced or no hepatic egg-induced granulomas were present in treated mice.
