We demonstrate that the position of intron - containing transcriptionally active latent Epstein - Barr virus genes and or their nascent transcript is random with respect to the speckled accumulations of spicing factors (speckles, SC35 domains). In traanscriptionally active cells, the pool of pre - mRNA (transcript environment) is a dynamic structure which encompasses both nascent transcripts and post - transcriptional pool of pre - mRNA.
