Exposure to high-intensity noise (105-120 dB SPL) for 1 hour in pigmented rats produced not only temporary threshold shifts, but also resulted in significant enhancement of amplitudes of middle latency responses, which is most probably connected with changes in the processing of auditory information in the central nervous system.
