The long-term impact of elevated CO2 concentration on photosynthetic activity of sun-exposed versus shade foliage was investigated in a Picea abies stand after three years of cultivation in adjustable-lamella-domes. Our results supported the idea of the importance of the vertical differentiation of the assimilatory ability of leaves within the stand canopy.
