The essay focuses on the personality of Abbess Kunhuta, the daughter of King Přemysl Otakar II, and on her importance for the continuing tradition of courtly art of the period of Wenceslas II. It monitors her activities as the abbess of a Benedictine convent, as the person who ordered the illuminated manuscript written by Dominican friar Kolda of Koldice and illuminated by canon Beneš (the so-called Passional of Abbess Kunhuta NK XIV A 17), and as the initiator of liturgical plays in the convent. It also highlights links between a Benedictine convent and the St Vitus Chapter.
