Příspěvek se soustředil na otázku, jak se do zobrazení smrti v malířství 19. století mohly promítnout požadavky dobové teorie umění a umělecké kritiky a na příkladech vyobrazení smrti hrdiny z českého malířství se snažil ukázat, jakou mohla tato vyobrazení mít podobu.

The article deals with the problem of influence of art theory and art criticism on the depiction of death in painting during the 19th century. The diversity of the formal solutions of this subject is shown on the examples of Czech paintings.
