New design of hydride atomizers both for atomic absorption spectroscopy (AAS) and for atomic fluorescence spectroscopy (AFS), have recently been developed. An overview of the fundamental processes taking part in the multiatomizer and in flame-in-gas-shield atomizer, and its impact on performance of these atomizers is presented. A personal view of authors on the future development in the field of hydride atomizers is given.
