The demonstration in electrophoresis of charge isomerism of rEGFP nonderivatized with SDS presents an illustration for the fact that apparent homogeneity of a protein in SDS-PAGE only refers to the molecular weight of the gene product and is blind to posttranslational modifications or other sources of isomerism. In this respect, CZE combined with the Ferguson plot analysis of recombinant proteins, compared to conventional SDS-PAGE.
