    AnnotationKapitola interpretuje výsledky výzkumu hodnot a postojů československých občanů v roce 1968, výzkumů veřejného mínění po dvaceti pěti a třiceti létech o těchto událostech a výzkumu hodnot r. 1998 komparovaném s výsledky výzkumů 28 zemí. Oproti oficiální interpretaci ukazuje, že: 1. většina populace zastávala v roce 1968 demokratické orientace; 2. hodnotové štěpení tehdy neprobíhalo mezi členy a nečleny komunistické strany, ale napříč populací, mezi demokraty (většina) a nedemokraty; 3. Slováci preferovali nacionální hodnoty před demokratickými, při celkové demokratické orientaci. 4. Pražské jaro je trvalou hodnotou. 5. Demokratická orientace Čechů 1998 je obdobná jako v západních zemích, vyšší než v postkomunistických zemích.
    Description in EnglishThis chapter presents results of the value research Czech and Slovak citizens in 1968, public opinion researches 1993, 1998 and the international value research 1998 (28 countries WVS). Despite prevailing interpretation the chapter shows: 1. Most of population (and members of the communist party too) then wanted the parliamentary democracy. 2. The cleavage didn't exist between the communist and non-communist but got across through all population between democrats (most of population) and non-democrats. 3. The Slovaks preferred his national values, but in the common stood up for democratic values too. 4. Prague spring is the durable value for the Czechs. 5. The Czech democratic orientation is similar and has a similar structure like west European democracies except the Anglo-Saxon countries.
