    The reform of local and intermediary government in the Czech Republic taking place in the 90s and the beginning of the 00s is mapped and its results are assessed. Also the wider political, geographic, demographic and historical contexts of the reform are characterized. A separate chapter is devoted to relevance for the reform of the country's approaching accession to the EU.
