In the Life of Constantine-Cyril the Philosopher, obvioslythe oldest literary work written in Old Slavonic, one can read 4 alleged disputations of the hero on various theological topics, one of them being a polemic against Islam. The author argues that the reason of including this polemic into the Life was not a real need of the Great Moravian society; obviously it olso was not a record of a real historical disputation of Constantine with the Arabs but, it was an abridged version of Constantine's literary theological polemics, which the hagiographer included into his own work in support of his apologetic argumentation.
