AnnotationArchaeological excavations in the territory of Eastern Turkestan having been made since the end of the 19th century, and in particular during two last decades, give evidence of the significant role of this important crossroad of cultures. The main result of activities along the Silk Road was fruitful exchange of spiritual and material values, which has largely influenced whole history of culture of Eurasian peoples. Most of the early contacts between East and West were going just through the territory of Eastern Turkestan.
