Rozvoj podmínek vhodných pro demokracii byl závislý na určitých historicky vzniklých podmínkách intelektuálních i společenských. Článek ukazuje, že filozofický základ demokracie zůstává trvalý, ale v současnosti je vytlačován jinými myšlenkovými směry, které se odvracejí od historických zkušeností, bez jejichž znalostí a návaznosti na ně lze těžko funkční demokracii rozvíjet.

The development of conditions suitable for democracy was dependent on specific historical conditions, especially in the way of thinking and the perception of social problems. The article show this foundation of democracy as still very relevant, but being replaced by other ideological orientations, on which a functional democracy cannot lean.
