AnnotationThe present study showed that flurine ion-implation of polymersimproves the adhesion and growth of endothelial cells withoutelevating the expression of immunoglobulin and selectin types ofadhesion molecules. This surface modification should promote coloni-zation of an artifical vascular prosthesis by endothelial cells andmake it less vulnerable by immune system cells of the recipient. The ion-implanted polystyrene provides a potentially usefull materialfor construction of artificial vascular implants.
