    The high-power laser systems PERUN and PALS lambdao=1.315 ćm, ELó1 kJ, c÷400 ps at the fundamental laser frquency, 1w (possible conversion to 2nd and 3rd harmonics, 2w and 3w), with a maximum attainable laser intensity IL of up to about 6X1016 W/cm2, were used to generate highly charged ions of various elements (Al,Co,Ni,Cu,Ag,Sn,Ta,W,Pt,Au,Pb,Bi).
