A development of the kilojoule iodine photodissociation laser PALS involves a new fiber optics front-end, an implementation of adaptive optics and a petwatt beam band on optical parametric chirped pulse amplification. The petwatt upgrade will be prepared with a new hybrid laser SOFIA.
