A strong effort of the Mn3+(d4) ions tp remove their orbitally degenerated ground state is a motivating power to lower symmetry of their surroundings.Besides this tendency the real effect depends also on a number of additional contributions, above all the fundamental structural matrix and compositional influences. they are analyzed on examples of three structural types derived from the close packed arangment of oxygen anions, namely spinel, magnetoplumbite and Perovskite structures.
