The blazar OJ287 has been monitored very intensively during recent years but elder data are relatively rare. We present preliminary results of the analyses of the long-term optical behaviour of the object. These results confirm the importance of scientific results for blazars and other high energy sources, which can be drawn from astronomical plate archives.
