The existence of astrometric and space geodetic observations offers a good opportunity of combining them into a series covering almost the whole century. Such a series is extremely useful for studying long-periodic effects. In the following, the combination used is described, and the combined series of polar motion analyzed in order to derive the secular and long-periodic polar motion.
