The multiperiodic line profile variations of the Be star .mu. Cen are descibed by 6 periods, sorted in two groups around 0.5 and 0.28 days and intepreted as nonradial pulsations. The emission outbursts appear just at times of positive interference of the strongest modes in the 0.5 day group. An empirical model is presented, which enables for the first time to predict or reconstruct the times of emission outbursts of the star.
