The Pekárna Cave is the key Magdalenian site in Moravia, showing the development of this Upper Paleolithic culturein a stratigraphy: the basal Weichselian loess, the overlying polygenetic soils, dated radiometrically to 13-12.5ky BP, and the layers above the Magdalenian. This development may be compared to the Barová site, a cave with a scarce archaeological record but a more complete stratigraphicdevelopment. In conclusion, it seems that the end of loessdeposition is slightly metachronous under different environmental conditions at the individual caves.
