We have found that depending on the type of the modulation matter soliton can be accelerated in the case of linear modulation, exhibit oscillations when the potential is parabolically modulated and are being trapped or undergo reflection depending on the sign of the disturbance in the presence spatially localized exponentially decaying defect.
