AnnotationAnalysis of function of genes that control the expression of cytokines in health and disease. We have compared production of IL-4 and IL-10 in uninfected mice and in mice infected by Leishmania major and we have found that gene Cypr3 (cytokine production 3) influences cytokine expression both in uninfected and infected mice, whereas the influence of Cypr1 is restricted to certain conditions (uninfected mice). Cypr2 colocalizes with locus Lmr8 (Leishmania major response 8) on chromosome 1 that controls IgE production after L. major infection. These results might indicate either causal link between these two loci or that both functions are controlled by the same gene
