Annotation
CA IX normally controls differentiation of gastric mucosa. Its abnormal expression is strongly associated with certain human tumors. It may serve as a target molecule for cancer therapy for the following reasons: it is expressed in various common carcinomas, resistant to conventional therapy; it is exposed on the cell surface; normally expressed CA IX in gastric mucosa has a limited access to immune cells, antibodies and many drugs
