AnnotationBoar seminal plasma proteins, spermadhesins, that are bound to the sperm at ejaculation play importantrole in mammalian fertilization. Binding of spermatozoa to oviductal cells and to the glycoproteins of zona pellucida are mediated by the protein-saccharide (lectin-like) interactions. Spermadhesins that interact with components of the oviductal epithelium, are involved in the formation of the sperm reservoir, in the release of capacitated sperm from oviduct and in the sperm interaction with glycoproteins of zona pellucida
