Different courses of microsporidiosis, related to the route of infection, were observed in severe combined immunodeficient (SCID) mice inoculated with spores of the human microsporidian Trachipleistophora hominis (Phylum Microspora). Mice were inoculated by eye contamination by spores and intramuscular, subcutaneous intracerebral, intraperitoneal and peroral inoculation. Our results show that T. hominis has very little tissue specificity. Peroral infection seems to be ineffective in T. hominis, but eye contamination or insect bite (as mimicked by injection) are suggested as possible routes of infection under natural conditions
Průběh infekce ve vztahu cestám inokulace byly sledovány u severe combined immunodeficient (SCID) myší infikovaných lidskou mikrosporidií Trachipleistophora hominis (Phylum Microspora). Myši byly inokulovány intraokulární, intramuskulární, subkutánní, intracerebrální a orální cestou. Výsledky ukazují nízkou tkáňovou specifičnost T. hominis. Perorální infekce se zdá být neefektivní, ale intraconjunktivální a injekční cesta jsou zřejmě cestami infekce v přirozených podmínkách
