AnnotationThis paper deals with the first step of the regional analysis which consist in the identification of homogenous regions according to statistical characteristics of precipitation extremes. Candidate regions are formed by the cluster analysis of site characteristics, using the average-linkage clustering and Ward's method. Several tests for the homogeneity of regions are utilized, based on the 10-yr event, L-moment ratios, and the variation of L-moment statistics.
