AnnotationData on 496 meteors belonging to several meteor showers obtained between 1998 – 2001 were analyzed in this work. The light curves of the studied meteors vary widely, but generally are nearly symmetrical. The beginning heights of cometary meteors increase with increasing photometric mass. Volatile part, which starts to ablate before we are able to detect them, is probably responsible for this effect. The Geminid meteors start suddenly at altitudes of about 100 km. This is probably due to reaching the melting temperature of silicates. In this case real beginning height is observed.
