AnnotationCarbon-14 is a radionuclide with global occurrence and partly natural origin. This radionuclide is a pure beta emitter with half-live 5730 years. The greatest present artificial source of radiocarbon are effluents from nuclear energy facilities, even though it is minor contribution in comparison with natural production. From all radionuclides released by Nuclear Power Plants (NPP) with Light Water Pressurized Reactor (LWPR) during normal operation, radiocarbon is responsible for major collective effective dose. During 2002 and 2003 samples of biota were collected in NPPs Temelín and Dukovany vicinity (both NPPs have only LWPR) and in reference background localities. Received results are compared and discussed in the point of view of NPPs influences on C-14 amount in the environment of close vicinity
