There is growing evidence that sea lampreys, Petromyzon marinus L., produce gonadal steroids differing from those of other vertebrates by possessing an additional hydroxyl group at the C15 position. Here we demonstrate that sea lamprey testes produce 15alpha-hydroxyprogesterone (15alpha-P) in vitro when incubated with tritiated progesterone and 15alpha-P is present in the plasma of sea lampreys
Množí se důkazy, že samci mihule, Petromyzon marinus L., produkují steroidy pohlavních žláz odlišné od ostatních obratlovců tím, že mají navíc hydroxyskupinu v poloze 15. Prokazujeme, že varlata mihule produkují in vitro 15alfa-hydroxyprogesteron (15alfa-P), jsou li inkubovány s tritiovaným progesteronem, a že 15alfa-P je v plasmě mihule přítomen
