Turbulence, both classical and quantum, represents an intellectual challenge in understanding many natural phenomena. The fundamental theory of turbulence is yet to be developed and the role of experiment is therefore crucial. Cryogenic helium offers several fluids that can be used for generating turbulenceflows under controlled laboratory conditions.
