AnnotationRespiratory uncoupling, brought about by transgenic UCP1 white fat, limited the accumulation of triglyceriges in skeletal muscle and liver, while improving glucose tolerance in mice fed a high-fat diet. In skeletal muscle, these changes were asociated with a simultaneous inhibition of lipogenesis and induction of respiration. The enhancement of energy expenditure in muscle, in response tu a lower release of fatty acids from white fat, may contribute to both, obesity-resistence and insulin sensitivity of the aP2-UCP1 transgenic mice
