AnnotationThe study showed that some of the classical studies (Mayer et al., 1966-1970) focused on the pathogenesis of TBE brought mistaken results because they were based on the experiments with Langat virus instead of TBE virus. Consequently, now it is time to reexamine the general features of TBE pathogensis using modern molecular biology approach. To emphasize the assignment of the Hy-HK variant to Langat virus we propose to use in a new name, e.g. Langat Hy-HK.
