A female specimen of Philometroides barbi, a little-known histozoic parasite of Barbus meridionalis, was recorded from the fin of its fish host in Bulgaria. Scanning electron microscopical examination made it possible to distinctly distinguish P. barbi from P. cyprini and other congeneric species parasitizing European fishes.

Samice Philometroides barbi, dosud málo známého tkáňového parazita parmy Barbus meridionalis, byla nalezena v ploutvi tohoto hostitele v Bulharsku. Vyšetření pomocí řádkovacího elektronového mikroskopu umožnilo zřetelné odlišení P. barbi od P. cyprini a dalších druhů tohoto rodu cizopasících v evropských rybách.
