Many industrial processes (such as control technologies, robotics, design of various manipulators, feeders etc.) require that the action elements of corresponding devices have relatively high lift, with static characteristic as flat as possible. These demands obviously cannot be satisfied by actuators in classic arrangement. The presented paper deals with two types of actuators built on principles of a linear asynchronous motor, particularly actuators with planar air gap and actuators with cylindrical air gap. Their mathematical models are solved by the finite element method with the aim to find their static characteristics. The methodology is illustrated on two typical examples whose results are discussed.
